Inclusion – Our Stories, a new video series amplifying our voices from regional and remote Queensland is available now.

CRU have launched our latest video series celebrating stories of inclusion and lived experience in regional and remote Queensland. Dan Read, a music producer from Gympie and Violet Gregson-Quinn a Yeppoon parkrun volunteer presented their stories at the event. Winton’s Steve Elliott and Longreach’s Daisy Walton’s stories were also screened. The videos feature stories of inclusion in each of our members’ hometowns where they enjoy participating, creating and belonging alongside everyone else. These stories are vitally important examples of how inclusive communities find a place for everyone’s gifts and contributions. CRU’s Inclusive Communities web resources provide more inspiration and ways to work for inclusive communities.  This series was shot on location by Soul Vision’s Peter Hegedus with inclusive film company, Bus Stop Films’ Breanna Swan working on the Gympie film shoot.
The project has been funded by a grant from the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing.

Violet the parkrun Volunteer

Violet has become a regular, volunteering with Yeppoon parkrun. She works alongside other volunteers setting up and packing down, but her favourite part of the role is cheering on the runners and offering them support.

 

Steve the Dog Trainer

Steve lives in Winton, an historic outback town in Central West Queensland.  He finds satisfaction in his work training dogs. Nothing better than a full day’s work and cold one with mates.

 

Daisy the Emerging Artist

Daisy loves the safety and familiarity of home in Longreach. She has everything she needs at her fingertips.  Art classes being mentored by Aunty Joyce, craft at the Library in the company of friends and accessing Braille classes online at home.

 

Dan the Music Producer

Making music is one of Dan’s many passions. Writing, producing, recording, gigs – he loves it all and is right at home in Gympie, Queensland’s centre of country music.    His other loves include travelling across Australia and spending time with good friends.
