Today CRU co-hosted a workshop with Children and Young People with Disability Australia (CYDA) to assist people to understand more about how they can engage with the Disability Royal Commission (DRC) with a focus on education issues.
The DRC provides an opportunity to share experiences and engage in a variety of ways to recommend changes to improve the educational experience of students with disability.
Thanks to everyone who participated, including representatives from Queensland Collective for Inclusive Education (QCIE), and advocates from Queensland Advocacy Incorporated - QAI and Speaking Up For You (SUFY).
In the next few days, CRU will make available a video link of presentations, and links to factsheets and workbooks to guide you if you want to make a submission, or understand your options for engagement, supports you can access and more.

We want to remind you about the upcoming workshop for people with disability and families co-hosted with Children and Young People with Disability Australia (CYDA) on Tuesday 18th February from 9.30am-12.30pm in South Brisbane.

The Disability Royal Commission provides an opportunity to influence the future of education of students with disability. There are a variety of ways to share your experiences with the DRC and submissions do not have to be lengthy or complex.

This workshop will help families to understand choices about how to engage with the Disability Royal Commission so they learn about the experience of students and their families. It will answer questions and provide frameworks and templates to make it easy to contribute your experiences.

Registrations are closing soon for the two inclusive education workshops held consecutively on Thursday the 27th and Friday 28th February in Brisbane. CRU would like to promote these workshops to regional families of students with disability who might not generally be able to attend workshops due to distance. CRU has some support (including travel and accommodation) for families from regional and remote areas of Queensland who are parents/guardians of students with disability attending a Queensland state school.

Disability Royal Commission WORKSHOP – Towards transformation in Inclusive Education
Tuesday 18th February from 9.30am-12.30pm

CRU is delighted to be working with Children and Young People with Disability Australia (CYDA)to co-host this workshop for individuals and families.
This workshop will be an opportunity to learn about the Disability Royal Commission and how to have your say on the issue of education.
The workshop will provide information about the current Royal Commission and practical tips and support to prepare your own submission if you would like to do so.

Date: Tuesday 18th February
Time: 9.30am-12.30pm (Please arrive from 9am for a 9.30 start)
Morning tea will be provided
Venue: The workshop will be held in the Gambaro Room, Commonground, 15 Hope Street, South Brisbane.
