In late 2013, CRU accepted a private donation, to be paid annually for five years to contribute to the development of strong, principled leadership by people with disability and families throughout Queensland in order to contribute to better lives for people with disability. This donation is funding the Disability Leadership Project which is a project of CRU guided by an Advisory Group. During 2014, the Disability Leadership Project made available a number of funding opportunities for people with disability and family members engaging in leadership.
CRU is offering Information Sessions on the Disability Leadership Project for those interested in applying for funding in 2015 as well as those who are just keen to know more about the project. We will repeat the session twice on the same day, and these will be held at the CRU office.
Tuesday 9th June.
- Session 1: 10am-11.30am
- Session 2: 4 til 5.30pm
Attending the sessions
There will be some capacity to seek further information/clarification by phone or email AFTER this date, however, if you are interested in applying for funding, it is highly recommended that you attend or link to the information session so that you are well resourced to develop proposals and budgets in line with the goals and priorities of the Project. We believe that this information session will help people understand the intent of the project, which is not just a grants program nor only a leadership development program as such.
CRU will soon call for applications for the 2015 funding rounds for 2 steams of this project, namely the “Grow your Leadership” and “Grow your Collaborative Leadership” streams. Written information and application forms will be available from the 9th June and applications will close on the 7th August 2015.
For those unable to attend there will be the option of linking by phone. The session will also be filmed so people will be able to view the formal presentation.
Disability Leadership Project Grants
For your general information, the Disability Leadership Project currently funds 4 streams and this funding is only available to people with disability and families who live in Queensland. These streams are:
- Ignite: One-Off Funding for Conferences, Travel and other Leadership Development and Skill Building. One-off opportunities to developing leaders by providing them with support to attend conferences and training events, to arrange for visiting speakers to visit their communities, or to engage in other similar activities.
- Grow your Leadership: Grants to Deepen Individual Leadership Learning and Experiences. In 2014, grants under this banner were awarded to 3 different individuals for projects for a total of $10 000. The successful grant recipients are continuing to develop their projects and leadership which are due for completion by June 2016.
- Grow your Collaborative Leadership: Grants to Support Leadership by Groups and Collectives. This option supported three groups of people working together in their local communities or with shared communities of interest. Again, funding of $10 000 was allocated to be shared amongst the 3 successful groups.
- Hosted leadership events to allow emerging leaders to access information, skill development and opportunities for personal reflection on a range of foundational leadership topics. This funding will particularly allow CRU to assist regional people to attend CRU leadership events as well as select training opportunities offered by others.
If you would like to join us, either in person or by phone, please register by emailing email@example.com or phone 38442211 by 1st June.
