We have been busily planning for 2017 to share the date claimer that will cover the early months of the year. There will be more events added though the year but we were keen to get this to you as soon as possible.
On one side you will see a list of general events across the state. We are offering a range of workshops, courses and seminars of different lengths; in different regions and of interest to different people connected to CRU. We have tried to offer opportunities for our broad membership ie people with disability, family members and workers. As is usual for CRU, each of these workshops will have a registration fee.
The schedule of fees will remain the same for the moment. We are currently undertaking a review of our fees and costs and anticipate that we might need to make a small increase next financial year. CRU has not increased fees for some years but as we now face an uncertain future with regard to funding, the Committee is exploring a whole variety of things we can do to sustain the organisation.
On the reverse side of the date claimer is a list of the workshops that CRU will continue to present as part of our NDIS Participant Readiness Strategy, in partnership with Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services. CRU will conduct workshops in the Brisbane and Central Queensland regions of the state. The majority of these workshops are for people with disabilities and family members with just a few being offered especially for workers. These workshops will not have an attendance fee as they are fully subsidised by the Department of Communities.
On Saturday June 3 we will be holding a one day forum in Brisbane which is open to all. The presenters will be People with disability and their families who are already using the NDIS , either in North Queensland or interstate and they will share their experiences, successes and insights of the journey so far.
Flyers are being prepared and will be sent prior to each event – they will contain details of the time and place of each event and how to register online via our website. (Some of these events are already on our website and open for registrations.)
If you have difficulty registering on-line please don’t hesitate to contact our office and someone will assist you with the process. We will require everybody to register for these workshops.
I look forward to catching up at one of these CRU workshops in 2017,
