The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is currently being trialled in other states.
Presenters from these trial sites will impart learned wisdom and share insight into their experience of using the NDIS.
This one day forum showcases stories by and about people with disabilities and their families who have been involved in various trial sites from across Australia.
The NDIS provides people with a disability with a new opportunity to think about how a good life is possible.
These forums continue on from our recent “Taking Charge of Change: What do we need to be ready for the NDIS?” workshops. Participants will be inspired and encouraged to think about what is possible in the context of self-direction and the NDIS.
These forums will be filled with practical stories of people with disability setting the direction of their own lives. All the presenters will be from interstate and there will be a focus on sharing their wisdom and experience of their own personal experience within their NDIS trial site.
Having had experience using the NDIS, presenters will talk about:
- Creating a vision and planning for a good life
- Self-directing and self-managing
- Staying well connected in their community
- Day-to-day experience of the NDIS
