Upcoming CRU Events for February 2018
As Christmas approaches and the 2017 year is coming to an end, planning for 2018 has started at CRU. Below you will find a list of a few of the events that are already confirmed and more details are attached . There is also an accessible version with details attached.
To register for the events that are already open please go to www.cru.org.au/events
February 7 Brisbane, CRU Office Registrations open now
May 10 Sunshine Coast, Woombye
The workshop has been developed for workers who are interested in what it takes to make a positive contribution to a person’s life. Participants will gain a greater understanding of their role in assisting people with disability to develop skills and help to include the person they support in their community.
The training will offer opportunities for participants to reflect on their role as a support worker including the values underpinning the role. The content is particularly aimed at workers in self-directed arrangements but all people who are keen to work collaboratively with the people they support will benefit from the workshop.
Presented by John Armstrong
February 14 Gold Coast, Upper Coomera Registrations open now
February 15 Brisbane, Gaythorne Registrations open now
John will help participants come to a deeper understanding of the impact that an Intellectual Impairment can have on a person. As well as gaining an appreciation of the relationship between cognitive impairments and the difficulties we can all experience in life, participants will be equipped with some practical ideas on how best to support and assist people.
This workshop will be of interest to all those involved in the lives of people with an intellectual disability, including family members, support workers, managers, advocates and allies.
There will be more details to follow – though as mentioned in our update in October, our Participant Readiness for the NDIS workshops have now finished and we anticipate that CRU will be offering a smaller calendar of events for 2018.
From January the NDIA will provide information to people with disabilities and their families on how to access the scheme. We will send further details about that process in the New Year.
