Young Families Taking Charge: Chermside
November 10, 2015 @ 9:30 am - 2:00 pm
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) starts in Queensland from July 2016.
The NDIS will give people with disability and the people closest to them a chance to have a bigger say over their supports.
This one day workshop talks about what we know about the NDIS, and some practical things people with disability and their families can do to get ready for the NDIS.
We will talk about how families can be thoughtful about using paid supports to build a good life, how to maintain strong family and community connections, and where to start in being prepared and informed in the lead up to the NDIS.
A light lunch will be provided.

This workshop is for families of young children with disability (0-8 years) who are interested in hearing about the NDIS and what they can do now to develop a vision and a plan for the future.

Some information about the NDIS is available on the NDIS website (www.ndis.gov.au) and the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services’ NDIS information page. If we hear of events that are being offered for providers and workers we will advise on the CRU website. We appreciate the interest of service providers and workers.
Lisa Bridle and Susan Duncan-Kemp work as Senior Consultants at CRU and each has many years’ experience working within the disability sector. Lisa is also a family member, which has shaped her thinking about creating good futures for young people with disability.
