CRUcial Conversation – Governance for Not-for Profits

A workshop for Not-for-Profit organisations                                 

CRU is offering this workshop to assist the committees and boards of community organisations supporting people with a disability to strengthen and safeguard the governance structures that underpin their work.

This workshop is designed to assist not-for-profit organisations to better understand their legal obligations.

Topics  discussed  will include: 

  • The general governance framework, including the various pieces of legislation and aspects of common law.
  • The different legal responsibilities of the committee, the executive and staff.
  • An update on the role of the Australian Charities and Not for profits Commission (ACNC)
  • Identification of some of the key pitfalls in governance of not-for-profits
  • Risk management

Photo of Ros WilliamsRos Williams is a Solicitor who has worked in the community legal sector for 22 years.
She developed a special interest in non-profit governance 10 years ago and has regularly run governance training sessions for a wide variety of incorporated associations across Queensland.
The training that Ros provides is informed by her experience providing legal advice to many management committee members over the years. Ros works at Caxton Legal Service.

Who should attend?

This workshop will be ideal for people from the not-for-profit sector including new and existing board members, committee members and organisational members interested in finding out more about sound governance.
