The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) starts to roll out in Rockhampton, Gladstone and other parts of Central Queensland from 1st January 2018. People may be contacted up to six months before the roll-out date to start the access process. During the six months before the NDIS starts in your region, from July to December this year, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) and Partner in Community organisation (to be announced) will take over responsibility for people entering the new scheme. This means CRU’s NDIS Participant Readiness work will finish in your region at the end of June.
CRU will be returning to Rockhampton and Gladstone in June once more to offer our short workshops The NDIS: Getting Informed and Sharing Practical Strategies for people with disability and their families.
For workers and service providers who would like information to share with people with disability and families, we will offer a session in Rockhampton that is open to workers, to resource you to assist people to prepare and transition to the new scheme. The information in this workshop is from the perspective of people with disability and families.
We will have one workshop in Rockhampton outside work hours to make it easier for people with disability and family members who work during the day to attend. This Getting Informed workshop will run from 6pm to 8:30pm, with a light supper from 5:30.
These workshops are funded by the Queensland government so there is no cost to attend, however registrations are essential. As always, please pass this information on to other people you know who may benefit.
