At Community Resource Unit Ltd. (CRU) we engage with a broad range of people in a movement for change so that people with disability will be welcomed and appreciated as they take their place in their communities.
As well as influencing and equipping others to lead positive change, our purpose is to inspire and encourage individuals and organisations to challenge ideas and practices that limit the lives of people with a disability.
An important part of our work is to assist people with disability and their families to be better prepared for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) as it is implemented in Queensland between mid-2016 and mid-2019.
When used well, the NDIS can offer a big change with many opportunities for people to create and sustain a good life in their community. CRU is committed to working with people with disabilities, their families and supporters to take charge and make the most of this scheme.
As well as exploring key ideas about what makes a good life, this website offers strategies to create and sustain this for a person with disability. It has been created as a resource for people with disability and their supporters, both paid and unpaid.
We have gathered some great content that already exists on this topic and created some new resources that highlight key ideas and share the wisdom of others. We trust that this means there will be a mix of familiar concepts, old favourites and new resources that will be of interest to the broad and diverse CRU community.
