We have brought together information on attending our “3 events to mark 3 decades” event.
Much of this content can be found in our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document that can be downloaded to the right.
On this page there is more specific information on:
Participants can apply for full or partial contribution towards certain costs of attending this event. We will consider requests in the following areas:
- Registration Fees
- Support Costs
Details regarding these areas of support are outlined at the bottom of the application document.
As funds are limited, any contribution that an individual can make will be appreciated. Similarly, participants are asked to consider approaching other organisations (e.g. Another community group, family support agency, employer) who may also be able to contribute towards costs.
While prospective participants are encouraged to make contact with the relevant CRU consultant to discuss needs, all participants seeking a place and/or support should fill in the relevant application form.
We have compiled this list of local options for those who require accommodation during the event.
There are a number of accommodation options within a short walk from the event venue. ‘South Brisbane’ Train Station is located next to the venue. Many other accommodation options are only one train stop away and the Cultural Centre Busway is also close.
Train tickets can be purchased at train stations, but if you plan to take a number of train or bus trips it is cheaper if you have a ‘Go Card’ (these can be purchased at Train Stations and other locations, see translink website). A train journey between Brisbane city and Brisbane Airport will take approximately 30 minutes. An Airtrain ticket is $18.50 (May 2018 price) each way and stops at South Brisbane Train Station
The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre is located in the riverside South Bank Precinct and offers participants more than 30 cafes, restaurants and specialty shops. Brisbane has a compact CBD and is ideal for walking and getting around via the many scenic river and bridge walks.
As this is a busy period for accommodation bookings it is advisable to book early and some prices are likely to rise as hotels reach capacity. It may be useful to ask for an ‘Advance booking’ rate or use online booking sites to compare accommodation prices.
Please note that while CRU staff have visited some of the accommodation below, we suggest using this as a guide only and check details with the hotel staff.
ASSISTANCE WITH ACCESSIBLE ACCOMMODATION
Accessible accommodation is limited and of course definitions of this differ widely. If you need any assistance in finding suitable accommodation we are happy to check this out for you.
No refund will be given for a cancellation made after 5pm on 10th October 2018
|By 5pm Wednesday 10th October||Full refund|
|From Thursday 11th October||No refund provided*|
*In exceptional circumstances you can apply in writing for a possible refund.
Late cancellations can result in a considerable loss of income and cost to CRU as we have to commit to venue, catering and travel expenses prior to events.
CRU has created a policy that endeavours to balance the needs of participants with the needs of the organisation.
We acknowledge that there are a number of unexpected circumstances that can make it difficult for people to attend events and we are open to requests for a refund after the 10th October in exceptional situations.
Substitutions are welcome if you can no longer attend. See FAQs on our website for the answer to “If one person has to cancel, can another person attend in their place?”
To qualify for a refund, cancellations must be notified by 5pm on the 10th October either by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or phoning (07) 38442211.
